The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has added kapok-filled lifejackets to their recall list, advising these be destroyed and replaced.
Kapok lifejackets have been found to sometimes sink, and the cotton straps can rip.
Check your lifejackets and make sure you and your family are safe by replacing any kapok lifejackets, or any safety equipment that is damaged or more than ten years old.
