A great day out was had by all on September 21st for the Mid-Winter Snapper Shootout presented by Port Valley and Schnappa Rock.

A great day out was had by all on September 21st for the Mid-Winter Snapper shootout presented by Port Valley and Schnappa Rock.

With a reasonable swell affecting the competition area, visibility ranged between two and 10-metres, depending on the spot.

First place went to Steve King with a 7.55kg snapper, second went to Mac Wheatley with 7.05kg and Shane Obrien at 6.95kg.

Footnote: The Catfish Cull
NZ Spearos are reminded to put one of the sports biggest events in their calendar - the Catfish Cull.
Based at Motuapa on Lake Taupo, this major annual event is scheduled for 1st February 2020. Spearfishing NZ suggests a range of new things are to announced in association with the event shortly.
